The menacing feeling starts from the beginning of the film with the soundtrack adding to the burgeoning undercurrents. A film about our perceptions of others different from us, either through colour, race, religion or any other artificial barrier put up by humans since time immemorial. Interestingly, each character has a different side to him which surfaces when the need arises. This is especially highlighted with the scenes involving Thandi Newton and Matt Dillon. The director does not try to give a solution but just depicts everyday scenes heightened by the tensions simmering within each person.
