Subtitled “Is Love a Game?” seems an appropriate vehicle to show the lives of teenagers in Malaysia especially certain groups in Kuala Lumpur. The dialogue is spot-on most of the times reflecting the lingo and concerns of the younger population of the city. It is not all about teenage love and angst but some heavy stuff is touched on briefly for example gender stereotypes and sexual abuse. The film does not pretend to solve the perennial problems of love and friendship faced by ordinary folks especially teenagers but the premise of futsal, girls and love does make for a potent combination.
Acting wise the cast did a reasonably good job notwithstanding that most of them are first timers. The tight script and editing helped the film to move along at a respectable pace. At least the audience did not yawn in agony with melodramatic over the top scenes like those usually seen in Malay films.
Overall, it is a commendable effort from the whole team. Kudos are in order to the whole ensemble.
